What a great story. Boy, did you find an important niche, a space for liberal thought in illiberal times. Kudos for the guts to keep going despite the attempts to make Quillette verboten reading on the left and then to be willing to shed anti-vax nutters on the right.

Ravo, Claire. I have just shared this with a young Sydney-based protege, saying: You see? It can be done.

I have follower Quilette's journey since it started and although I disagree with some of the slant the articles take I can't help but admire its success in our illiberal times. As my politics has veered towards the left more and more ever since I left university, quillete still holds its place as a testament to free speech, argument for arguments sake and free thought. I attended the quilette social in my city one year and met some of its founder's friends who mentioned they had some religious stance on things. While I'd disagree with it, I respect it still.

Here's to 10 more years of free thought with quilette.

Very well done, Clare. Your mag wads the first ray of light showing me that there was substance on the other side (or maybe it's this side?) of the progressive, group-think murk.

Thank you, Claire. What you're doing is important. Liberalism is worth defending, both from the fashionable nonsense that is performative wokeness and the dangerous smokescreen of rightwing populism.

For the sake of reason, tolerance and freedom of expression, I hope you keep doing what you're doing. But don't be afraid to neglect us, your precious readers, from time to time so you can spend time with your kids. That's important too.

This is really impressive and I’m glad I saw this grow over this years, nevertheless I didn’t know what it would have looked like at any human level.

I do not know how I stumbled on to your Substack Claire

The only one I follow on Substack is Diane Francis but from now on there may be two.

When the Metoo wave peaked there were a lot of cancel culture eruptions in Sweden. One of the coolest heads to stand against all this was Paulina Neuding, swedish journalist and lawyer. When I learned that Paulina gone to work for Quillette I discovered your publication.

As I suffered the severe consequences of cancel culture, although not directly targeted by Metoo-movement, your publication asserted to me that there is a vast community that still adhere to the notion that facts and reasoning outdo malign firebrands that sweeps trough society.

The hard work you did at Quillette during those years, putting all those good writings together created a soothing perspective. To be able to read about similar events at so many places took an enormous load of hardship of my shoulders.

I was amazed then and I am still amazed how you could pull all that together at the

right time and at the right place so to make it all available to us.

I think you can count the ones like me in the hundreds if not thousands. I am forever grateful to you unknowingly ease the pain I suffered.

Epic origin story! I want to work at Quillette! I am final-year social psych PhD who has publicly said heterodox things and now probably won’t get a job. I was even looking at postdocs at religious universities in Texas, and they’re all somehow woke!

Do you foresee Quillette expanding anytime soon? I’ll be first to apply.

Actually some of the heterodox things I said were published in Quillette, so it’s partly your fault 😆
